On Saturday, March 11th at
5:00 pm, I went to see with my friends the last hockey match of the season for
the local team, the Hokki. The match took place in the ice rink covered of
Kajaani, situated in a few minutes on foot of my campus.
Previously, I had already seen
hockey matches in Canada and in France, I had adored the atmosphere, but it was
the first time when I saw one in Finland.
I was surprised seeing so many
spectators in the ice rink of Kajaani because I never see a lot of people in
town. I think that hockey matches are events very important for the Finnish
families.
The full name of the club is
Kajaanin Hokki. The team is in the second-highest ice hockey league in Finland,
named “Mestis”. Hokki are composed of Finnish professionals but also
international players.
Hokki was not very well placed
in the classification but the team managed to beat the team of Turku (however better
classified): 2-1.
The team of hockey of Kajaani
finished the season, 11th on 13 in the Mestis classification.
I crossed a great moment,
there was a good atmosphere but it's too bad that the teams have no mascots. It
is much more fun during half-time! 😀
