My road trip in Lapland (free subject)

This weekend, I joined my family to go to cross a few days in Lapland. I left Kajaani by plane to join the airport of kittilä then Levi's ski resort.

When we arrived, we visited Levi who is a charming ski resort.
Levi is the biggest winter sports resort in Finland. Most of people call it Levi, but it's about the name of the mountain, Sirkka is the one of the village.

We went to the snow village called Luvattumaa. We visited Levi Ice Gallery consisted of a snowy hotel, a chapel of snow, a bar with ice and an art gallery on the ice and the snow. I adored this visit, it's a sublime place!

We went to spend one day to Rovaniemi, to visit the official city of the Santa Claus. We visited the village of Santa Claus, the office of the Santa Claus (we finally met him!) as well as the Santa Claus' main post office where are received from thousands of letters every days.

Rovaniemi is the capital of Finnish Lapland, it is situated on the Arctic Circle ("napapiiri" is finnish spocken).
Rovaniemi is also situated in 2465km of Paris.

Then, we visited the Arktikum museum situated to Rovaniemi. I was able to see various exhibitions dedicated in the Lapland, in the culture sami (they are the inhabitants of the Lapland), in the history of Rovaniemi, in the Arctic (on the fauna, the flora and the various Arctic peoples of Europe, North America and Asia). It's a very beautiful museum which allows of to know more about the city and Lapland generally. I learnt in particular that Rovaniemi was totally destroyed in 1944 by German as they retreated. Then, it was reconstructed according to Alvar Aalto's plans, the main streets of Rovaniemi form the head and the wood of a reindeer, an eye being represented by the Keskuskenttä sports stadium.

We went to ski to Levi, in this station we had the possibility of skiing at night, until 7:00 pm, the ski runs are very well lit and equipped well.
We visited a farm of reindeers situated in 15 minutes of Levi, then we had the opportunity to make a tour of sled of 1km fired by reindeers.
The last evening, we left for excursion in snowmobile to try to perceive nothern lights (or auroras borealis). We were lucky because the sky was clear we were able to see several, it was a magic moment!
I'm delighted by this journey in Finnish Lapland, I learnt many things on the Finnish culture and on the Lapland. I discovered wonderful landscapes, it's really a place to go at least once to its life...

Afternoon ice fishing and snowshoeing

On Saturday, I participated in an excursion snowshoe and icefishing proposed by my university.

We were a small group compound of about twenty foreign students, we left the campus at 1 PM in snowshoe, to join Vimpeli lake.

In our arrived, a campfire had been prepared for us. We were able to make burn out sausages and drink hot beverages.

I was able to try the ice fishing, even if I nothing did not sin (maybe I didn’t rather patient), it was a wonderful experience.

That day, I also participated in a race in sled and in a “snow football”, I crossed a very good time!

Before the night falls, we returned in the campus, it was really an excellent afternoon.
